2018 Competition Results

Congratulations to all the KSP competition winners for 2018, and thank you to all those who entered. We received a high number of entries again this year, so the competition was fierce. Multi award winning author of Romantic Suspense, Paranormal, and Urban Fantasy, Carolyn is a member of the Romance Writers of Australia, the Australian  Society of Authors, the Electronic Publishing Industry Coalition (EPIC), the Romance Writers of New Zealand, and KSP Writers' Centre. Carolyn is currently under contract with Serenity Press.

Judge: Lucy Dougan

Lucy Dougan’s books include White Clay (Giramondo, 2007), Meanderthals (Web del Sol), and The Guardians (Giramondo, 2015), which won the WA Premier's Book Award for Poetry in 2016. She holds a PhD from UWA on representations of Naples. She currently works as Program Director for the China–Australia Writing Centre at Curtin University.

KSP NON-FICTION AWARDS 2018 (National)

Judge: Ken Spillman

Ken Spillman grew up in Perth and has been a full-time professional writer for most of his adult life. His work includes 18 books of nonfiction and around 60 books for young people, together published in more than twenty countries and many languages. Ken has compiled and edited several books of essays and other writing from some of Australia’s best-known writers, and was a book critic for the West Australian for ten years. He has judged numerous writing competitions and book awards in Australia, India, Singapore and the whole of Asian region.

KSP SHORT FICTION AWARDS 2018 (National)

Judge: Michelle Michau-Crawford

Michelle Michau-Crawford is a Perth-based writer of fiction, non-fiction and poetry.  Her short story Leaving Elvis won the prestigious ABR (Australian Book Review) Elizabeth Jolley Short Story Prize in 2013.  Her debut book of fiction Leaving Elvis and Other Stories (UWAP) was published in 2016.
