Youth Program Publications
A new initiative as part of the KSP youth program is student-led publications. This is an opportunity for young writers to collaborate on a publication under the guidance of an experienced tutor.
Alongside writing craft lessons, students also have the chance to brainstorm a publication, contribute their work, give each other feedback, and learn all about the publishing process, including style guides, typesetting, and design. There are no assessments or reports for performance, just skills development in a supportive setting.
Our inaugural student-led publication, The Hunt, was developed and published across Term 2 and 3 in 2026. You can read The Hunt below!

This weekly recreational group, held during the school term, is led by Michaela Ironwood, an encouraging facilitator passionate about helping young writers develop their craft. Students can build upon their writing skills and meet new friends at the KSP Writers' Centre Scribe Tribe.

About Michaela:
Michaela was thrilled to join KSP as the Youth Tutor in 2025, and step into the Coordinator role in 2026. She was one of Writing WA’s Emerging Writers Program participants for 2024-25 and her debut novel will be published by Elephant Page Publishing (by 2028). She has a Bachelor of Arts in Creative Writing, has short works longlisted and published in anthologies, and also works as a freelance editor.
